Where is your beef raised?
Everything is born, raised, and humanely butchered right here in Texas! We take immense pride in supporting local Texas agriculture and ensuring the shortest possible journey from our pasture to your plate.
What makes your ranch special?
We offer flexibility and transparency. From genetics to feed, we control the entire process. Plus, you’re supporting a small, dedicated family business with every order.
What is the difference between grass-fed/finished & grass-fed/grain finished beef types?
Most Ranch’s offer two distinct, high-quality beef options: 1. Lean Grass-Fed/Grass-Finished: This beef is raised solely on grass for its entire life. It is naturally leaner, higher in Omega-3s, and has a very earthy flavor. 2. Nicely Marbled Pasture-Raised (Grain-Finished): This beef is pasture-raised on hay forage but is fed a short-term, specialized grain “treat” you might call it, near the end of its days on the ranch. This process enhances the marbling, resulting in incredibly tender, rich, and buttery flavor, raised to our strict standards and above and beyond what you would find at a local grocery store. CW Squared is a Pasture-Raised/Grain-Finished beef model where we are literally hand feeding the cattle with our 3 littles ranchers ensuring our heifers have the most stress-free, nutritious eating experience.
Does CW Squared Beef cook differently?
Yes! This beef cooks faster and needs less time on the heat. We highly recommend using a meat thermometer and pulling the steaks about 10 degrees before your desired doneness to avoid a dry outcome and rest a minimum of 5-10 minutes before enjoying. Note that if you cover the meat while it is resting, this will increase what we call “carry over cooking” so you can allow it to rest for a shorter period to obtain that perfect doneness. Do you use hormones or unnecessary antibiotics?
Absolutely not. We believe in providing a product that is raised responsibly and naturally. We prioritize animal health through careful management, not chemical shortcuts.
What do the two 'C W's in CW Squared stand for?
Caleb and Chandler Watkins — husband and wife duo and owners of CW Squared Beef. They are actually CMW squared, even with a matching middle initial. Talk about a match made in heaven ;)
Do the cows get names?
Absolutely, yes! —they are part of our herd! Our 3 littlest ranchers tend to do the naming… Shadow, Blacky, Tiny… you know, real creative for black angus cattle. (And yes, the owners talk to them and really do pray over them daily!)
